Ohno stared at his blank canvas. It stared back at him.
He sighed. He just was not getting any inspiration today. He turned his gaze onto the cup that he stored his paint brushes in. They stood there; some dripping slightly, and some new and dry. Nothing interesting there, then.
Scanning the room for ideas, he noticed a small grey camera sitting on the side of his bookshelf.
‘That’s funny,’ he thought. ’I don’t remember ever getting a camera.’
But he picked it up anyway, and examined it. It was shaped like an ordinary camera, except that there was a slot in front – for the pictures to come out, he supposed. The other thing different about it was it had only two buttons.
One was labeled on/off, and the other was blank. He supposed it was to be used to take pictures, and tested this out by pointing the camera at his shelf and pressing it.
Nothing happened. He examined it further and found that he’d forgotten to switch it on.
He tried again, and this time a picture slid out of the slot, floated to the floor and landed face-down. Picking it up, he turned it over.
It was his shelf, there was no doubt about that. But it was also not his shelf. The camera had changed it somehow. The clutter of ambiguous knick-knacks was still there, but the specks of dust around them had disappeared.
This was creepy.

Up in the spirit world, Nino was in trouble.
“How dare you lose the camera?” roared the King. “Do you know what chaos this will bring to the kingdom?!”
He went on roaring at Nino for a while more, before summoning his guards.
“Guards! Go to the human world. Find the camera. Bring it back. At once!”
The guards rushed off.
“And you!” The King glared at Nino. “Such a deed garners a punishment like no other. You shall be sentenced to life as a human.”
The he paused. “But do not let it be said that I am not merciful. You can choose the age at which you start your new life. The condition is, if you start at any age besides zero, you will age while having the same appearance till you die.”
